Bulloch Jail Directory Limits
The GDC location listing validates the county jail contact and location. It does not replace the sheriff's live custody data, create a state sentence, or show a local release reason. Bulloch County Sheriff's Office remains the operator and records source for jail bookings.
A booking can end through community release, probation, another county transfer, GDC transfer, or federal or immigration custody. The directory cannot tell which path occurred. Use it to confirm that the correct Bulloch facility is involved, then follow the record held by the responsible agency.
Confirm Bulloch Jail Release Status
The sheriff's Interop site separates Current Inmates, 24 Hours Arrests, and Inmates by Arrest Date. Only the last view routinely mixes released rows with active bookings.
- Use the directory entry to confirm the facility.
- Open Bulloch jail inmate data and check Current Inmates.
- Search Inmates by Arrest Date by name and date.
- Match arresting agency, court, charges, bond, and case details.
- Confirm a released status through the sheriff or court when the destination matters.
The 24-hour page is a booking feed, not a release list. Absence from Current Inmates is not enough because transfer and data limits can produce the same result. The Bulloch release-record search covers each fallback.
Bulloch Jail Directory Contact
The Sheriff's Office controls local jail records even though GDC publishes the directory page. A focused request should identify the person, approximate booking date, arresting agency, and case number.
Bulloch County Sheriff's Office
Address: 17257 U.S. 301 North, Statesboro, GA 30458
Phone: 912-764-8888
Open records: openrecords@bullochsheriff.com
Open Records Officer: Emily Sims
Ask for the booking and release record, release date, release type if maintained, and transfer destination if applicable. The sheriff's form describes a three-business-day response and possible search, retrieval, copy, redaction, or inspection costs.
Directory Versus Offender Search
The GDC directory and GDC offender search serve different tasks. A directory page describes a place. The offender database describes state correctional records. A person who bonded out of the county jail may never appear in GDC. A person transferred into a state sentence may stop appearing as a current local inmate but remain in GDC custody.
| Source | Use |
|---|---|
| GDC jail directory | Validate facility contact |
| Current Inmates | Check active local custody |
| Inmates by Arrest Date | Find released local booking rows |
| GDC offender search | Trace state custody or release |
| Court file | Confirm bond, sentence, or disposition |
Choosing by record type prevents a directory listing from being overread as release proof.
Two Bulloch Correctional Locations
Bulloch County Jail and BCCI have nearby U.S. 301 North addresses, yet their release systems differ. The jail is local detention under the sheriff. BCCI houses state offenders under contract with GDC and some county-sentenced inmates. A person may leave the jail for BCCI without entering the community. Conversely, a BCCI state release may have no recent row in the jail roster.
The facility name, operator, case, and custody level should be written down before searching. For BCCI, use GDC, parole, and DCS. For the jail, use Interop, sheriff records, and the court.
Bulloch Jail Court Follow-Up
The released roster row can include court, warrant, charge, statute, arrest date, bond, and days in jail. Carry those fields into the Clerk's system or request. The Clerk of Courts is at 20 Siebald Street, Statesboro, phone 912-764-9009, and email clerkinfo@bullochcounty.net. Its site states that document requests generally take three to five business days.
A disposition, bond order, sentence, probation order, or transfer record may explain why custody ended. Released status does not equal dismissal, acquittal, or sentence discharge. Court confirmation is the durable layer after the convenience roster changes.
The public Interop pages do not state an update schedule or retention term. A new release may lag processing, and older rows may be difficult to find. Direct jail contact and a narrow open-records request remain the fallback when directory and roster views do not answer the question. Keep a copy of the result date, status, court, and case fields because the convenience view may later change without notice.
Request Bulloch Jail Release Proof
The directory page cannot supply a release certificate or destination. Ask the Sheriff's Office for the local booking and release record instead. A useful request gives the full name, aliases, approximate arrest date, arresting agency, and the warrant or case number shown in Interop. State the exact items wanted, such as release date, release type or disposition code if maintained, bond release information, and transfer destination.
The sheriff's form says some responsive material may require search, retrieval, copying, redaction, or supervised inspection. It also says the office will state within three business days whether records exist and are subject to release. That is a response framework, not a promise that every record will arrive within three days. A narrow request helps the office locate the relevant event and estimate any cost.
If the roster names Superior Court, State Court, Statesboro Municipal Court, or another jurisdiction, contact that court for the legal outcome. The jail record proves a custody status. The court record explains bond, dismissal, plea, sentence, probation, or revocation. A state transfer should then be traced in GDC rather than through the directory listing.
Validate the Bulloch Directory Match
The directory remains useful when names or addresses are confused. Confirm that the result says Bulloch County Jail and not Bulloch County Correctional Institution. Then compare the operator and telephone with the Sheriff's Office source. For release time, property pickup, or transportation instructions, ask jail staff because the directory does not publish those logistics.
Do not assume a pickup entrance or transit stop from the street address. For older records, preserve the directory citation as facility identification, but rely on the sheriff and court for the substance of release. A GDC transfer requires the offender search. This uses the listing for its real purpose without turning it into a release database or misstating the responsible agency and custody route.
The directory entry confirms the institution's identity; the sheriff and court remain the sources for the release event.
